Effective, efficient and responsible, Planet Coffee and our customers have taken major steps in becoming better stewards for our city and environment!
R#1	REDUCE Planet Coffee and its customers have reduced the waste going into landfill by 34,000 lbs
R#2	RE-USE Cardboard from packaging is re-used in packing and shipping of other products.
R#3	RECYCLING All cardboard that is not re-used is broken down and recycled by local waste management company. Bi-products from the Waste to Energy facility process are recycled back into metals, asphalt and other recyclable products.
R#4	RECOVER 17 Tonnes of spent Single Cup packaging has been recovered to be used as fuel to generate electricity.

WHAT IS WASTE TO ENERGY (WTE)?
	AN EFFICIENT, ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE DISPOSAL PROCESS Waste to Energy (WTE) facilities use waste that would otherwise find it's way to a landfill and use it to generate electricity as well as make use of bi-products.
IS IT ILLEGAL TO SHIP RECYCLING OUT OF PROVINCE?
	No, many recyclers ship their recyclables across borders due to the lack of recycling facilities in our province. A Waste to Energy(WTE) plant is currently under construction in Alberta.
IS THE WASTE TO ENERGY PROCESS ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE?
	The WTE plant is ISO 14001 certified. This is an international environmental management system.
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF WASTE TO ENERGY?
	It is an efficient way to produce energy and reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions from our landfills.

For every tonne of waste landfilled, greenhouse gas emissions in the form of carbon dioxide increase by at least 1.3 tonnes. To Date Planet Coffee has recycled 17.2 Tonnes of waste which equates to 22.3 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions being kept out of the atmosphere Planet Coffee has full participation of all our single cup customers in our recycling program
